Some of you may remember voting in a poll i posted as to what the next kit i should build. This was the (clear) winner. The original box was destroyed before i got it and should have looked like the first picture. But the second picture is how i got it. Also the instructions were missing but thank god for Scalemates.
Hopefully the decals will be ok (not sure though) and i'll make sure all the parts are there later. I'll be painting it the same scheme as the box art. Got some aftermarket items for it. Essential Eduard masks for the massive amount of glazing. Eduard PE for the cockpit and Squadron Products resin wheels.

Sorry for the state of the pics. Not sure why the camera took them all out of focus. Could be the light.

Yes Jim. The rocket will be fitted to the aircraft.

Would this have had the Swastika on the tail. Notice this with a lot of model companies that thay wont include them.

It would, because this aircraft was operated by Nazi Germany.

Notice this with a lot of model companies that thay wont include them.
This is because displaying this symbol is illegal in a number of countries, and though they usually make exceptions for historical depictions, it has several consequences in the real world. One is that officials enforcing such laws tend to err on the side of caution: unless it’s clearly historical, it tends to be frowned on, and a model (let alone its box top) is not necessarily viewed as clearly historical. A photo of the real plane with swastika would be OK (unless it’s being used to promote national-socialist ideology), a model of it with one may not be OK if displayed in public.

Another consequence of this is that European model manufacturers appear to have a kind of gentleman’s agreement to not include swastikas.

Revell being a German company are not allowed to have swastikas on box art or on decals by German law.

But i aint German or in Germany so yes it'll have them on :smiling3:

Ive had this problem with a couple of German war birds. I just sourced a sheet of Swastikas of various sizes that I use when required. They just dont look the same without them although I respect the reasons behind the reluctance to reproduce them. Good luck with the build Alan.

Cheers Steve. I bought a sheet of swastikas from Hannants years ago because of this very reason. I'd always add them as you cannot erase history

I really like the look of the He111, those huge wings and smooth lines make everything look quite elegant. It will be nice to see this one built.

Made a start on it today. Progress is slow as the instructions aren't the best and also there is a bit of flash to clean up. But it is an older kit so that's to be expected.

Opened out the seatbelt access in the back of the seat in readiness for the PE belts. Also in doing that i've had to 'remove' (badly) the moulded on belts. But the PE ones should hide the mess i've made lol.

Built up the V1 (not cleaned it up yet though). Wow it's big. I've seen one in the flesh and forgot just how big they are. I've put it next to the body of the He111 for a representation.

Alan, you are building the world's first aircraft launched cruise missile. Have fun with it and don't forget the swastikas. :thumb2:
