1:72 DHC-1 Chipmunk AZ Model

So, I've finally remembered to finish off the little Chipmunk. It's no coincidence that it's batting down with rain outside, so garden duties are suspended.

The finished article. The canopy is a bit tatty, some paint lifted when I demasked. I think I forgot to repair it. Also, a bit of wash got left behind, then varnished in place - well that didn't help the canopy either.

It's a tiny model. After building this I feel qualified to try a 1:144
There is a build thread somewhere which highlights the problems the little limited run kit presented. Nothing would be a show stopper to any average modeller. Then again, if you want a Chipmunk, your options are limited.

Got to get me one of these! I flew these in the CCF back in the 90’s. Have 7 hours in the chipmunk. Would be nice to have the kit. Doubt it would be as good as that though. Canopy looks perfect and I bet it was tricky.

Beautifully done colin , the canopy looks fine to me . Its a lovely little aircraft isnt it , i have fond memories of the venerable Airfix chippie , still not a bad offering although covered in more rivets than the Titanic !! The training squadron is looking very nice , I reckon a nice Airfix Scottish Aviation Bulldog would fit in perfectly! cheers tony

Thanks for stopping by everyone. It was a funny little build. Small, fairly insignificant, but quite satisfying.

It's an ok kit. It does need a bit of filling, but it's so small, there isn't much to do.
