While digging through my spares boxes, in search of parts for an ambulance project I've been working on, I came across these two cargo beds that were left over from my Bussing-Nag sleeper conversion. In my stash are several Hanomag Vans that I got on sale a year or so ago, and I thought these might be worth looking at to see if they could be converted into cargo trucks in the 4-4.5 ton class. Here is what happened. Rick H.P1010984.JPGP1010985.JPGP1010991.JPGP1010992.JPGP1010993.JPGP1010994.JPGP1010995.JPGP1010989.JPG

Who would have thought I could get this lucky. There are 2 locator pins on the chassis, not only are they spaced properly, they are also the same diameter. The new beds fell onto the frame and off we go. Super detailing will start next. The last pic. BTW was a comparison shot with a M.B. Lo 4500 in the same class. Thanks for stopping by. Rick H.

Small update, one down one to go. The blob of a steering wheel was unforgiveable. I cut it out filled the hole in the floor board sanded the seat smooth where it overlapped and made an effort to rescribe the upholstery lines. The white half round will fill a gap that existed between the interior component and the inside of the cab. Gearshift...just because. Cheers, Rick H.P1010998.JPG

Thanks Steven, once I get the interiors done I'll start adding all the external bits and pieces that will make these trucks unique to the Wehrmacht. JR and Mr. Jones, thanks for the nice comments. I
Know I can always count on you to show up. Sorry I can't offer refreshments to the three of you but my bartender is MIA in Deutchland!! Thanks again for dropping by.
Cheers, Rick H.

Small update on my progress so far, both interiors are now complete, headlight buckets drilled out for new lenses, license plates located, clearance markers installed, new drilled out tailpipes installed. All that remains is to make and locate the tail lights and the drivers side mirrors. The windshield wiper locations have been drilled and wipers will be installed just before paint. Last update before paint. The drivers side mirrors are made and installed, The tail light housings and stems are in place and I am playing with a conceptual idea of a goods shed or even perhaps a rail side freight shed. Looking for something that will give good visuals and lots of activity. Q&C's...even suggestions would be welcome. Hi Rick - could I suggest that those towing pintles need replacing with something less toy like?

Funny you should mention that Mr. T, normally they would have been cut off a long time ago and scale pintles installed in their place. I'm out of pintles and have scrounged all the ones from my unbuilt kits to get this far. As far as I know there is no after market supplier that I'm aware of. I shall try to cobble something better to at least make them look civilized. Cheers, Rick H.

Now you know why I was asking about pintlels. Both those trucks need something other than the post hitch they currently have.
I'm currently working on a make shift solution but do not want to make a practice of it as it is a little out of scale.

Latest update, All detail painting is complete and drying. Next up is a gloss clear coat in the decal areas. once that is dry I can apply the decals, dull coat and install the head and tail lights. Cheers, Rick H.P1011002.JPGP1011003.JPGP1011004.JPGP1011005.JPG
