Don't know how I missed this one Paul, ( could have been the size your working on ) but glad I've seen it now. just pulled up a seat for the rest of the build, which is looking great so far. ( Love your bench. )

Thanks Ian. Yes Rick. Twin tube 4' flourescent fixture directly over work space plus articulated fixtures on each side. Too true Dzhon. All tools have a place to be when not in hand. Habit from automotive work. Once a year tidyup at changeover unless a critical part has gone missing. PaulE

You got my attention Paul nice work so far don’t know how you work with those little pieces. Your bench looks like mine when I used to build 1/87 trucks. Some how there’s a “O” instead of “A” in your title “diamond” or did you mean to do that?

Back at it HARD. Finished cutting & fitting metal boom mounting pins into lower frame and scratched boom ends & boom braces.

Next will mount boom frame to truck bed & start rigging. C&Cs welcomed. PaulE.

Just been having a look at the Wespe models - not the cheapest kits around and the postage is ridiculous as it is more than the kit
eg £15 for the kit and £18 postage to UK

I usually get mine on-line, often in a lot of several models & USPS is cheap. I think I paid $10 for the wrecker in a lot of 6 models. Not much in 1/87 is cheap anymore and Wespe runs hot/cold on quality, but usually they are the only table in town as their choices are not offered by others. PaulE

Much threading thru micro 74ga. holes. Thanks to Wespe for supply of small dia. waxed thread. The plan was to do most of the rigging before assembly to prevent excessive breakage. So far, so good.

No breakage yet. Screaming towards the finish. Won't 100%, but close enough for one foot viewing.

Honest, they were tighter last night. Looks like everybody relaxed overnight.

Not what I had hoped, but it's done. I didn't use weight like on previous rigging for fear of breakage. Lesson learned-again.

That was annoying after all that work.
Bet that thread stretched over night. Could you use the stuff wingy builders use for their biplanes rigging ? Or is that the wrong scale size.

Thanks Scottie. It's too smooth Dzohn. I have scale metal cable of a couple different thicknesses, but they don't like sharp turns. This stuff was perfect I thought. Well waxed, twisted strands looking very prototypical. Ah well, so it goes. On to the next project, 4.2" mortars. PaulE

Paul, I have twisted my own wire in the past for use in similar situations in order to get things looking taut

Two thin copper wires - tie ends together and chuck in a drill. Hold wires apart then slowly spin the drill to twist them together - works a treat
