Hi Tim very nice work indeed, a question for you if I may I will be shortly getting some Kelly Heroes Bolt Action figures what's the best primer for them.
Pete

Hi Pete
Thanks for the compliment.
These were primed with grey Tamiya, decanted for use in my airbrush. However, as I know you brush paint, some figure painters use Artist’s Gesso as a primer. Apparently it shrinks onto the figure as it dries so does fill in detail. It should suit you fine......

Cheers Tim very good tip on the Gesso which I use as a texture on some of my tank by stippling it so that bit is sorted.
Pete.

in answer to your question, very carefully LOL. Honestly not that hard but takes a little time....background painted in light green, then paint in horizontal and vertical stripes in dark green, then paint red squares where the dark green bands overlap. This took two sessions over about two hours. I did other less exacting work in between to stop the stress building up!
One of the secrets is to use paint out of the bottle, not to use custom mixes. That way you can touch in any over painting to cover mistakes. This one was going to be plaid pattern, but I chickened out of the fine white lines needed.....never bothered trying to shade it either.

Thanks Jim. I like them all to be honest, nice dynamic poses and clear detail. My least favourite was Vercingetorix. He’s obviously by a different sculptor and seemed a little flat compared to the others. Still came out well though.

I’ve got the a Roman equivalents to do later, so I’ll post them if they come out OK.....more 15mm first though....Stonewall Jackson’s foot cavalry.....
