Saturn V 1/72 Scale Dragon build Part 23

Well we’re nearly there just the Lem Shroud to deal with then the major decals followed by the 100 or so tiny decals for service command and Luna modules so this is the last piece of construction and scratch build till I build the base on which it will finally be displayed
1st of there is some nice etched detail in the clear plastic lem shroud but it’s missing latches and inspection hatches etc and a whole centreline rib so here’s what I did
Got some cocktail sticks and chopped the ends of as the look remarkably similar to the hinges on the real thing
Next got out my trusty drawing program and designed each of the additional details before printing them out in thin card using this card printout I replicated the various latches and inspection hatches and finally a thin paper strip was added to the centreline to form the missing ring the metallic circles were cut out using my leather punch the same one seen in previous submissions of this build
This was all then undercoated in flat white before finishing it with gloss white the effect is subtle but noticeable which is exactly what I was looking for
Finally the major decals were added to the outside of the rocket this just leaves all the tiny decals for the service command and Luna modules to be added so I’m calling this one done
Thank you for those that have commented and followed this build I hope I have given you some ideas for your own kit building some of this build has been best guess based on the research from the net it’s as accurate as I can make it
The kit overall is pretty good no flash around any of the parts no sink marks etc what lets it down is yes it will be an impressive model out of the box but it won’t be accurate the 2nd stage engine assembly for instance bears no resemblance to the real thing and there is virtually no surface detail on the third stage and the ISU ring is also missing various boxes and inspection hatch covers and at the last known price tag of £150.00 I would expect better but this is Dragon
So once again thank all those who have been following this and lookout for my next build when I decide what will be next I hinkling towards the U96 from Das Boot we will see

Regards

Colin
