well i got a little done, with her today, still working on the boots,I find I tend to undo ,more than I have done,so need
to give them a bit of a bake ,so about 3/4 of boots done, give the rest a go tomorrow, with the other half, can you do this or that, come help,oh my,so
hard them miss moggy comes along,so some is better ,than none,
had a go with green stuff ,for the gloves, not so bad i think, can do more work on them once set,
so I,m not tinging that its a cokup or I,m failing at her, just slow,:flushed:
hoping you are liking the progress so far,

Its progressing well Monica. Did you say your material needs baking? So it's add a little and bake and so on. I think that's rather good in a way. Rome wasn't built in a day as the saying goes.

Cheers,
Richard

hi,Richard ,there is a lot of clays like, premol, wimo, and so on,that do need to be baked,I,m not so sure if your real meant to do it that way,
but ,I find that by having it some what set, your not undoing work,so you can add the next lays, not sure if you can use a hairdryer to set
the thinner bits ,rather than baking the whole lot,

Hi Monica
You're are doing a fine job. No rush - this will take time. As you say it is all a learning curve.

Hi Monica - looks like you maybe had a bit of trouble with the green stuff. The surface is all rough and not very well defined

A tip I was given a few years ago when I started using Duro was to mix it up as normal but then rub a very small amount of vaseline on the surface - a little goes a long way. That way you don't stick to it and your sculpting tools don't stick to it either

You can smooth the surface with a finger or rubber ended sculpting tool and get a really glass like smooth surface

Once you have the basic shape smoothed down you can then start to work in the detail like creases and the fingers using appropriate tools - wiping the tools with a little smear of vaseline as well will also help

Once set, wipe the Duro down with a bit of lighter fluid to remove the vaseline before adding detail on top and definitely before painting

If you don't remove the vaseline then additional layers of detailing may pull away - this can actually be useful though

On the cartoon style Russian soldier girl I made I left the vaseline on - once completed I could pull her apart into component pieces ready for casting

Better to take your time and rework areas that you're not happy with until satisfied. If you're not working to a deadline then it becomes fun.

Cheers,
Richard
