I have had the Colonel Burthe 4th Hussars bust for a while and picked up the Hussar Trumpeter recently at SMW2021, just need the Eagle Bearer to complete the trio and mount them all together. Think this will be a long project, so may intersperse with other projects.

Burthe's horse was painted with the airbrush using Vallejo Air acrlyics, Trumpeters horse has had the basic areas defined, also witht the airbrush - this is because i will finish him using oils, and will do the same with Burthe's steed. Both faces have had a base colour airbrushed with Tamiya Flesh/flat brown and highlights with white added;

That is a lot of resin Steve. I don’t know about a bigger shelf, but you might need a stronger one :smiling2:
Great start on them both. They are fantastic sculpts. Great faces to work on. You’ll also be a master of frogging and lace by the time you complete them….

Hi Steve
They look beautiful sculpts. Not for the faint hearted or inexperienced. Off to a great start. They'll make a stunning trio when done.

Got some oils on the horse, just a pallette mix of Mars black, Titanium White and Yellow Ochre. Lows and mids painted, so need to add some white highlights probably in a couple of days but going to leave this one as a grey though. While he is drying i will get 'Burthes' mount painted.

The dappling of dobbin looks good. Perhaps some horses had dapples on the throat and some didn't - your choice I think.

Looks great Steve. Wonderful shading on show. As to throat dapples, I would look at images on the net and decide which you like the look of.

haven't had much time recently at the bench, but have painted a few more bits. dapple on the right side of the horses head. started on the horses eyes. blocked in the fur and body colours on the trumpeter and painted his face, need to do a bit more on his eyes.

Excellent progress, really like the skin tones and the horse is exceptional.
