Heres a kit ive had a while and I just fancied a nice simple build between the more involved ones . Its a beautiful little kit which ive made before ( over ten years ago !! See here https://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/p40e-in-captured-japanese-markings.7741/ ) and I intend doing it in the RAAF scheme ,of sqn leader Richard Creswell. Ive got some etched seat belts for it out of the spares , not entirely correct type but so what . Heres where im at so far . 2E1C0ACC-AE3F-48F6-9311-C435F761D5B2.jpeg9BD91600-74CC-44D2-9A24-D55BD8D5E0B6.jpegBF17871B-1303-4E7E-9201-48EFFEC1B47A.jpegE433BC3F-D71D-44A7-940B-F03264C6253F.jpeg405E0D29-21AD-4445-A271-C9E3939ECAD6.jpeg3B9D1146-6182-4893-ADA3-742B9854D019.jpegF1E36B8E-0AF0-4608-B0B6-7299B63CA20C.jpegD565C3D1-B273-4F4F-A298-5622952AFCAF.jpeg0F2EB309-6DA1-4803-A611-101C27008DCE.jpeg34DE40A9-7162-4FE1-A941-2CF4671754BF.jpegB3A910DC-85F6-4354-AFC6-2D193B7CBFDC.jpeg92656707-3E42-4B21-8EC5-1B15E3800AAC.jpeg

Wing tops and windscreen now on and its had a coat of Halfords grey primer . The airframe didnt need much of a clean up , just a few wipes with the acrylic putty on the wing roots and a little filler either side of the engine where the wing bottom joined. Next I can start with the colours , which although an RAAF machine are not earth brown and foliage green . This well researched machine was finished in the du pont equivalent colours for RAF aircraft at the Curtiss factory so good old dark green and dark earth but with a sky grey underside. 9920AB40-A5B4-4EC7-B0BA-3FD06D9892AB.jpeg795F5EE0-4E98-4F35-BBA0-93B345649DB1.jpegD9616BA7-7AD3-4022-99D3-3B9252B61C2E.jpeg

Hi Tony
Looks good with it's coat of primer. No issues to correct, a credit to your build.

Nice to see another 1/72 Academy kit being built. They may not be the most accurate kits at times, but there's lots of scope for the experienced modeller to create a great result. I have this kit too. Looking great so far Tony :thumb2:

Very clean build & finish. Dad & Grandpa built these at the Curtis Wright Plant next to Buffalo airport through the war.

Final bits and bobs now fitted and the tricky aerial wires added from fishing line . The canopy only fits in the closed position so anyone making this kit bear this in mind and dont go mad with the cockpit! Heres a couple of pics to finish the build thread , more to come on a ‘completed‘ thread 7EA280EC-EB33-42A3-B3FC-38550124D28E.jpeg254F7073-3312-4B40-8D48-99076EFB2F1E.jpegD12D8BC7-DA19-4C9B-8369-3867333EDA1A.jpeg
