It had to happen at some point I couldn't resist starting so here's stage one finished ready for painting slightly different from my first build as that one was an original boxing but still not much flash encountered yet. Built a first iteration of this masterpiece back in the Stone Age - remember the (rubber) 'leather' bonnet straps, scraping plating from mating surfaces etc, etc.! and then selling it to an officer for more than its original cost because 'Daddy' had always wanted one! Muppet! It was notable for its different types of plating chrome, aluminium etc - does it still have this?

Only the chrome plating but mine seems to be badly plated I may even consider removing it and a start again.
But I do still have my original one that I built five years ago witch came as an original box with all the aluminium plating and gearing so it could be motorised so I will see how this one compares

I'd forgotten about the the kit having the ability to be motorised, the little grey cells are also showing their age!

I found one of these in a charity shop for £40, claimed to be new and sealed, but the box had been wrapped in cling film! I left it.

Yes, I'm sure they'd wrapped it for a reason!
I've been caught out too, one I bought from a charity shop didn't have a kit in it, just a couple of sprues from other kits. On the other hand, I once bought one that was marked incomplete, which contained a full kit plus some extras!

This is a beast I've always wanted to build, and mine is in a place in my room where I can see it every day
...Build me...build me...
Seriously tho', Peter, are you de-chroming or use as is?
Also, that cat looks a bit overscale...
