Well I finally got this off the bench.
The old Airfix Vosper. A 73ft boat that saw plenty of action in the coastal waters of the English Channel.
More or less OOB, just a few bits replaced and added. The gaff's and hooks on the deck, a couple of grab handrails, knocked up from brass wire, the wires on the outside of the wheel house and up to mast being single strand copper wire.
The cover for the windows of the wheel house was also chopped off and replaced with a rolled up bit of tissue soaked in pva.
Wires for the rigging and rails are fly-tying tread.
Paint was Vallejo model color.
Hope you like her and believe it or not I still have one more in the stash!

Hi Ian
A great looking model. You've certainly showed that with skill and care these elderly kits are worth building.

Nice model, Ian and well detailed too.
I made one in my teens and it floated nicely in the bathtub.:smiling: I think I still have a couple of her crew figures somewhere in my spare parts box.:rolling:

Nice clean build and paint job Ian. Rigging lifts it up out of the pack as well.

Really nice finish and detailing Ian. She's a keeper.....As I'm not a floaty thing expert, what is the doo-hickey with the red wire/cable on the front where the rib line is??? I didn't think it was the anchor tie off or is it???......Top work Sir!!!!

Prost

Thanks chaps, it's only the second build after a far to long a break. The u-boat being the first.
Yes Allen, the ring and rope is indeed just that. I spotted it on one of the few pictures of this type boat, as to it being the attachment point proper for the anchor? Just seemed a logical place to tie off.
