I am in virgin territory with this kit as its the only airfix large scale aircraft that I haven't built as I have done the rest at one point or another in my life.
It's the unboxed kit with no instructions that I managed to get for £15 it has at least two sets of canopies and on closer inspection it's appears to be complete.
The first thing done is to scratch build some interior bits to liven up a rather sparse cockpit.SAM_0031.JPG20190429_185853.jpg20190429_193321.jpg20190429_193343.jpg20190429_193253.jpg

Morning Peter

I remember a really good article way back in late 70’s in the defunct Scale Models International magazine that went through how to correct the inaccuracies of this kit.
I managed to buy one around 1984 with the intention of doing all the mods and it has sat in the stash ever since along with a 109 and Mk1 Harrier :smiling4:

Hi Peter
Well the additions look great. I've never attempted a plane larger than 1/48 so watching this might persuade me to have a go at one.

Great start on this big one Peter.

Neat looking add-ons you’ve made for the office, love the seat belts.:thumb2:

Like this Peter. I'd love to build a big wurger but i don't have anywhere SWMBO would allow me to put it.

A few more parts painted before sewing up not much on the cockpit sides I have been looking for any upgrades but not much in the way in that department so it's pretty much out of the box.
And do excuse the poor quality pics.20190510_171818.jpg

A great start Peter how are you coping without the instructions? Have you managed to get some from Airfix?

Ah that explains how you were progressing with the build. I look forward to further updates.

Another small update I have all the tail wheel parts painted and ready to put together and I have got the cockpit\engine assembly fitted in one side of the fuselage.20190510_191722.jpg20190511_065126.jpg

Looking good Peter watch out for the fuselage cowlings around the engine as I seem to remember these being a bad fit. Good luck hope it all goes well.

After an overnight dry the wings have settled nicely but I was warned about the terrible fit around the nose section and it seems to ring true as it's out with my old friend the filler.
And here's the state.20190513_070824.jpg20190513_073536.jpg20190513_073553.jpg20190513_074012.jpg20190513_074018.jpg20190513_074022.jpg
