Thanks for letting me join the GB for this fantastic designer and aircraft. I have to admit this is one of my ultimate favourite aircraft. I decided to go with the classic 1/32 kit from Hasegawa. As i like different paint schemes i thought i'd do the Red 11 aircraft from Jgr.10 Schlangenschwarm.

Here are the usual box and sprue pics.

Made a start on it tonight. Have done some painting on the engine although to be honest you are not going to see anything once fitted. Put a bit of post-shading on the black surfaces but i don't think it's coming out in the photos. Also made a start on the cockpit. RLM 66 from Xtracrylix was my weapon of choice. But that is only because i cannot find my Vallejo Model Air paint and i don't know the Tamiya equivalent. Not impress with the Xtracylix for spraying. Clogs up a lot. Colours are great. But a pain to spray.

Next to matt varnish the cockpit and then apply wash and decals.

Getting some progress done although it's slower than i would like. But work and family comes first.

Painted the cockpit and various surfaces. Applied a coat of Klear ready for some weathering, washes and decals. Forgot i had the Klear until the better half pulled it out from under the kitchen sink.

Did a little on the kit today. The Klear has dried nicely so i got out my trusty silver pencil and Pro Modeller (Phil Flory) dark dirt wash. I want it to look quite worn as this was a test aircraft. Hope the pics come out ok and show roughly what i'm trying to achieve.

Ok so i didn't apply the decals. Forgot to cut off the raised detail so they would fit on the surface nicely. So i instead did a little painting to blacken the dials and then tried to paint the buttons white. My hand eye co-ordination isn't what it used to be. Guess that's the price for getting old and also not using my fine motor skills a lot in the last few years. Maybe with a little practice it'll come back a little.

Here's the cockpit done bar the control column. I will add that later. Also i don't have a set of AM seat belts (normally use HGW ones) so it'll go together without them.

Wasn't going to do any more of the kit tonight but you know what it's like when you're in the 'zone'. So i got the props and spinner painted. Just need to finish the props once the acrylic has had time to set properly.

Certainly finish for the night now :smiling3:

Very nice, the slightly tired cockpit looks spot on.

I do like these Hasegawa 1/32 190's and there is a lot to be said for their approach of giving us a good sound no frills kit. I look forward to seeing how this develops, a great start.

Barry i think this is a great kit. As you say it's a no frills kit. But should you want to go the extra mile with AM stuff then there is a ton of things out there for it.

I'd love to do a comparison build with the new Revell 190

You do all that work on the engine then it's hidden away with very little to be seen of again. Oh well.I know it's there even if no-one else does :smiling3:

Finished the props and spinner today too apart from the spiral (which be added later)

Started fitting the fuselage and wings together. Bit of a surprise but there are actually fit issues with the kit! I know! Shocked me too lol. I tried fitting the engine module to the fuselage but it actually didn't fit correctly around the wing leading edge/engine cowl mounting point. So i'm going to have to doctor it a little. Nothing drastic but just a bit of a shock. Never had that last time i built a Hasegawa 190.
Dry fitted the wings to the fuse to and there is a little gap at the rear but it's nothing a little filler won't sort out.
So waiting for it to dry and then will bang it all together. Only other slight issue i have to sort out is a well known fault with the Hasegawa 190. The flap tabs are molded at 90 degrees so the flaps hang straight down. This wasn't true on the real aircraft and so i will have to manipulate the tabs to a 45 degree angle for realism. Starting to look like a proper aircraft now :smiling3:
