I have been messing around with a old kaput laptop, stripped it and decided to use the aluminium casing from the DVD player to have a go at making some shot and crashed aircraft parts for our clubs 1/16 RC military vehicle 'village'.

I cleaned the ali, the primed in a light gray primer, once dry I used some light olive drab and brushed (my airbrush is out of action at the moment) it on some of the smaller parts-I didn't like it and managed to find a can of Tamiya olive drab with just enough in to coat the larger pieces.
I then added some painted stencils and a very worn, repainted and worn again star. I used the DVD's parts and motors to make it look like actuators, pumps etc and just added them into places I thought might look okay, I also drilled out some holes to make it look like hatches or covers have come off.
I have some Alclad jet exhaust paint so used that to look like oil or hydraulic fluid sprayed out. Added some bullet holes, bent and twisted the pieces, scratched the paintwork up and then coated on clear matt to seal.

Gave me something to do LOL.
