Hi all

So tonight is model club night** and as an end of term treat I'm taking Junior.

As you will have seen from here though most of his British Army kits are at the paint stage and so not ideal for model night, meaning I had to break into another box!

This was the chosen victim and a free one at that. Back in the spring we went to a friend's for the weekend but rather than a chocolate on my pillow as you see in some hotels I found this - and the right scale too!!

I've had a quick peak at the two sprues and it looks like it should be a nice little build. Obligatory box, sprue and instructions shots below.

** It's only a small club. Meetings are about taking kits along to build and show off your efforts. Whilst armour and planes dominate, we also see ships, civvy vehicles, fantasy, sci-fi etc.

Hi all

So we made quite good progress at the model club night. The gun is complete other than the wheels, which we've kept off for ease of painting.

The jeep is also making good progress as you'll see.

On the whole a nice little kit, although the gun takes a bit of careful lining up, which Junior found a bit tricky in places. I do need to attack the seams though. I forgot my optivisor on Monday night so I wasn't able to do it.

ACW as usual

Nice start. That must be damn small in that scale. :anguished:

Hi Bob

Sincere apologies, I completely missed your post!!

And yes it is. The jeep is about 5cm long and about 2.3mm wide.....

Hi all

So yet another victim of this weeks mass airbrush session!

The tricky thing with this kit is that the plastic that Airfix uses on this one and other kits is, at least to my eye, exactly the same colour as Vallejo's grey primer, and as I had a primer production line going I had to keep going with the standard colour.

Very neat, how on earth you manage something so small Andrew ?

I know you are using your son with smaller fingers, child labour was banned you know.:smiling2:

Hi John

Thanks for stopping by.

To answer your question, normally using the below optical aid with either the 1.2 or 1.8 magnification lens!

However, in this case we started the build one night at my model club and I took him along for a treat as I do on occasion. Problem was I forgot the optivisor! DOH!!

Being a glasses wearer since I was 13 my arms are nowhere near long enough for me to see or read anything without glasses and even then small stuff is sometimes a struggle. So there was more than one occasion I cut something off the sprue and had to give it to him to check for any small bits of sprue attachment still stuck on it and then almost had to feel where I was cutting!! :rolling:

Onto the issue of child labour.......I totally take your point......at least up to a point, for the following reasons:
  • He gets pocket money - so actually receives 'pay' from us!
  • He has a roof over his head.
  • We feed him.
  • We clothe him
  • He get's chauffeured around by us.
  • and don't get me started on the overseas trips he's had! I didn't take my first commercial overseas flight until I was in my early 20s. He's already done Australia twice in his short life!! :surprised:
So I if it came to it I'd be willing to take my day in court!! :smiling3:;)

All the best and stay safe!

Andrew
