A three part yarn. Part fact, part fiction but a whole heap of fun putting it together!.... :thumb2:

It's May 1941.
Bismark and Prinz Eugen have been selected for 'Operation Rheinubung'. An attempted dash into the Atlantic.

Here they are locking out into the Baltic Sea prior to a cruise up the Norwegian coast to the Northern Fjords. There they will make ready for a hazardous passage through the Denmark Straits and into the open Atlantic......

When you consider Prinz Eugen was a heavy cruiser, she is still dwarfed by the 'Mighty' Bismark.

Let's set sail for up norf!

Thanks chaps. Great to have you along for the cruise..... :thumb2:

The yarn resumes....
On 18th May Prinz Eugen met up with Bismark and the two ships headed out to sea heading for Norway.
En route they were spotted and trailed by a Swedish Cruiser who sent a message informing the Swedish Navy of two large warships heading north. This information eventually reached the Admiralty, so the British guessed rightly that an attempted breakout into the Atlantic was highly likely.

But where were the two ships?
Here they are setting off.

Leaving port.

Will they be spotted before they reach the comparative safety of the Norwegian Fjords?
Don't miss the final gripping chapter!.... :hungry:

Thanks for looking in.

Paul,
:smiling2:

Cheers Paul.
Love the photo.
At least the crew are taking their job seriously - I don't think. It looks like they are all on their mobile phones. The obsession reaches all corners of the globe.

I'll wind this up now.
They have been spotted in a fjord.
An RAF PRU Spitfire found them and has taken pictures.

No photo-shop trickery was used and no animals hurt during the making of these pictures.

Found!
