Hello all working on a syrian civil war dio thread can be found Here
The dio will feature a total of 4 figures two SAA in conversation and two FSA casualties
Working on one of these from Paracel.
He had two cartridges belts acros his chest Pancho Villa style a bit too much so i deleted one ( He will be an MG gunner so keeping one made sense) i made some folds and wrinkles with putty.
combatants often mix civilian clothes and uniform so he is wearing woodland camo
trousers . Now , guys first ever attempt doing camo - used AKs set. I did this 5 times over and he still look more like some one going to Glastonbury....
Hoping washes and slight dusting of pigments will do the trick

Steven, your being too hard on yourself I think. Camo is hard I'm sure when you tone it down with some washes and mat varnish it will look different .The skin tones on the last photos look great, nothing to worry about there.

thanks for the kind words John
I do struggle with the woodland camo but these are the results of a weekend spent painting:
AK - guy oils and acrylics
RPG - guy oils only
Woodland camo on the AK guy will be toned down by clear coat and perhaps a wash

Looking very good indeed so far, especially the figure with the RPG.

:smiling:thanks Gents

the GF and our two- year old are out for the day som I got down to issuing our RPG guy with an additional personal weapon and managed to not complexly budge the mounting the carrying strap.. Come to think of it the RPG need one a swell but I am not sure i can be bothered. -.In many of the ref vids of the Syrian civil war I see a lot of them without.
Just need to paint the watchstrap and the clock itself and he is ready for clearcoat - I hope to start mounting the two finished ones tomorrow.

So, our spraying and praying guy is mounted! - pretty chuffed with that and the result overall, as he is blasting away, aside from som rubble on the sidewalk he will have a lot of spent 7,62 casings at his feet

Thanks a bunch for the warming comments -
So, onwards and upwards, RPG- guy is fixed.(well, he did get a strap in the end...) His mate as of yet unpainted but the pics show the likely position as he is shouting over his right shoulder at the trailing RPG - gunner as they both are running, both to support the AK-guy firing in the "genereal direction" of the Sniper, but also running for cover as sniper fire rains down over them, caught out in the Open. AK - guy has received some rubble round him and I have added some spent brass on the wall but needs more around him.
Title will thusly be something along the lines of:

So, second RPG- team member primed and ready for the first stage of painting.
Running, he is landing heel - toe (as you do,,,) mounting him realistically will not be easy....
Generally pleased with the quality of Paracel's figures but the way they split up the molding process does not make it easy for the modeller- this guy had the hand holding the AK separate from the rest, meaning you had to mount it to the wrist - on the plusside, as the AK and the hand was molded together, he does grip the AK very realistically.
This is the angle I plan to mount him to the base - pinned through a pin in the heel down into the asphalt and then som very careful glueling...:

And yes...he is wearing flip -flaps I guess there is a very liberal insurgency dresscode......

Happy modelling stay safe and have a great weekend
