Just catching up on how things are going Bob. The camo has come out really well. Nice work on the tracks also. Nearly there now??

Cheers Steve. :smiling3:

Yes, nearly there. I cut a bit of ply for the base last night, but I don't think it will take long to complete as it will just be a forest floor.

Great work Bob. And it’s always a good idea to tie the final weathering to the base. Looking forward to the finished display.
Cheers

I got to work on the base, which is a bit of ply.

First up I added some blobs of air drying clay to add some topography, and also some plaster of Paris rocks I made ages ago but haven't used yet.

Next up I covered it with thinned PVA glue and sprinkled it liberally with grout. As this started to go off I sprayed it with water to get some texture.

And finally I airbrushed some brown and earth tones and painted the rocks grey and added a dark wash. When that has dried I will dry brush them with some lighter greys.

I've been working on the base some more. I finished painting the rocks over the weekend and I'm quite pleased for a first attempt, they look reasonably rock like.

Tonight got the grass and litter down, and plugged in some trees.

I might actually leave it at that. I'm trying to portray a forest track in the summer, and I think adding much more will detract from the scene.

Very nice base Bob. The grass has come along particularly well. Looking forward to seeing the Stug in place

Great looking base, Bob.
Nice and simple - You are spot on with your reasoning. Too much on it and it would take the eye away from the Stug.

Balance, my dear chap, balance.... :thumb2:
