Cheers Colin. :smiling3:

To be fair to Tamiya, it's not as bad as I had read. There was a fairly sizeable seam along the fuselage halfs, although this might be normal for aircraft kits (it's only the 2nd one I've attempted). Sprue goo and sanding dealt with that, followed by some re-scribing. Also, the wheel well shells had quite a step in them, but again filler & sanding sorted it out.

Other than that there was a little bit of filler in the wing roots and tail (you can see the white filler in the pics), but this was easily sorted with Vallejo putty and a wet finger. :smiling3:

Just love the Hog, from the first time i saw them back in the day at a Mildenhall air fete in the 80's. To watching one (virtually on my own) in a downpour at Cosford air show till now, and hopefully if rumours and everything crossed holds true screaming over our tent at Totterdown for RIAT this year.

Hogs - Ugly but well hung !

Engines this weekend. :smiling3:

I didn't go overboard as most of its hidden inside the cowling, but I did treat the jet nozzles with C1 metaliser which came out quite nicely.

Also started on the armaments.

Pylons installed and the rest of the bombs & missiles glued up. Still have quite a bit of sanding to go.

I'm amazed at how much ordnance this kite carries.

Awesome build Bob!!!

The A-10 is such a cunning little beast being more or less just a flying 30mm Gatling gun wrapped in aluminium with two jet engines, a set of wings and a cockpit!
I remember watching a video where they serviced the main gun and removed it from the Warthog and it almost silly in size...
I've never dreamt of becoming a pilot but if I did I would surely dream of flying one of these beasts!

I've handled live 30mm rounds for the JA37 Viggen Oerlikon KCA cannon and although they've got bigger case size we're still talking similar type of rounds - only that the A-10 shoots a hailstorm of these 30mm depleted uranium rounds...

I'm also impressed with the amount of ordnance it carries! Much more than I thought.
