Hi all.
I have a river running through my property so from time to time I find interesting bits of drift wood washed up on the banks. I have been collecting these for some while without really knowing what to do with them. I don't really know what sparked the idea for this build except it is very rare that I build anything the same as previous stuff that I have done. So somehow moving on from the large scale sculpt that I just finished for our museum, I decided to sculpt something in the tiniest scale and I ended up, after doodling around for a while, with this idea for a mini city.

I started off by dressing up some pieces of drift wood to create a sort of circle of mountains.

1. The cut wood lightly stained with a reddish wood stain.

2. The wood mounted onto a 4" by 4" wooden base.

3. The outside of the wood finally stained and varnished.

I then moved on to building up the tiny fantasy city in the interrior.

4. I painted the inside black and started to add ground using insulating foam.

5 This was covered with a coat of precoloured tile grout.

6. I then started to build the city using Magic Sculpt

7. Once mostly built it got a coat of Tamiya primer.

8. Then I painted the whole thing with another coat of black to act as undercoating for the final painting.

More to come.............

Real imagination to think up this John. Looks like one of those Inca cities high in the mountains.
