If the carpet is in your own workshop or shed it is probably best left to dry out, let the fumes dissipate and not bother about it. Phew!
IF! On the other hand it happens in the house you may come up against the law of domestic opposition from which believe me there is no escape!
1. Attempt to hide or go away maybe for a week, but problem will not go away and you will have to face up to it upon returning!
2. Attempt to clean it up, but resign yourself that this is often doomed to failure due to lack of industrial chemical and cleaning knowledge.
3. Admit to how careless/stupid you have been to have been using such a product in the house.
4. Do not make excuses as they will not be accepted.
5, Be prepared to seriously grovel. (apologies however may still not be accepted).
6, Get ready for the cold shoulder treatment (generally lasts 1 to 3 days). Door slamming, dismissive replies, conversation, gorgon stares etc.
7. Be prepared for a serious dent in wallet or credit card to either replace the carpet. Buy appeasement presents. Or both!
IF! You survive this, a pint or stiff whisky might be in order.
