Finally, here are the three 1/1200 Revell miniships together. They were fun to do, and something different for me to have a go at.....

That's it. It's been great fun building these mini ships for the first time.
Thanks to all who posted words of encouragement, praise and good hearted banter during the builds. It was all much appreciated.

Cheer all,
Ron

They compliment very well Ron and add to the dio beautifully.

Superb work on such tiny kits, really enjoyed looking at this.

Well that's gone waaaayyyyyy above the original 'less than a fiver' build but you're forgiven:

(i) Because you did do the original build as required and
(ii) Because this has turned out so damned good!

Thanks Si and Dave. I'm well pleased you like the three ships together.

It was only an extra £6 over budget Dave, but as you wrote, I did follow the rules to start with - then went off on a bit of a tangent (as usual!)

Cheers,
Ron

Very nice, what a great result. I think it just needs a touch of 1:1200 smoke. Duck and run.......................

I had chewed over adding a bit of smoke, but I read somewhere that when in the crisp skies of the cold North, the 'fires' were kept to a bare minimum when going slow to prevent the ship from being spotted too early by the enemy. Don't know if it's true or not. Can anyone help please?

If it's true, I'm safe. If not, it's out with the cotton wool!

Didn't somebody mention railings? And crew figures? What about portholes and drilling out gun barrels?

First two?- no chance. You can't see the portholes 'cos they are all iced over. As the ships are cruising in relatively safe waters, the gun barrels have 'bungs' in the ends to prevent the frigid air getting down the barrels.

.........:p!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your very generous comments......

Following two suggestions, and/or orders from Colin and Dave. Here are the ships, complete with 1/1200 faint, frozen portholes and smoke....plus a delightful, whispy sky that passed over this morning......Portholes (they are there) marked with a soft pencil and smoke courtesy of some cushion stuffing!....:smiling3:

I have no objection to being spoilt in such a fashion:smiling3:, but it's stretching things a bit to think my gentle suggestions are orders! In any case, orders or no, don't you feel better now you've improved your original even more?
