Thanks boys.

Paul - If I hadn't been following your latest excellent build, particularly the cart, I probably would not have noticed the lack of grain in the cart's woodwork and just happily painted away! So thanks for that.... :thumb2:

Cheers.

Amen to that, Bro.!

I've finished the 'Water'
Nice and straight forward using just poundshop acrylic paints and clear varnish. What I mean is, for my sanity and patience, I like my model making to be as simple as I can make it so for me, no faffing with resins etc., But hey, everyone to their own favourite water maker... :thumb2:

Here's the final coat of acrylics before I applied the varnish.

Next up some vegetation, so off into the lane I go to pick me some shrubs, bushes and trees.

No Matron I'll be just fine and don't really want Mr. Arbuthnott accompanying me with his three Rottweilers!
Hello nice doggies....Ow, you b*****d!

I've just spotted the Grebe waiting to ambush the three dogs.....

Cheers.

Hi Ron
How you get such an impresssion of depth in the water is amazing. The paint and varnish has worked exceptionally well.

Wot! You gotta wander off 'down the lane' when you have a humungous garden full of green stuff? I think you're just usin' your need for it as an excuse to get free and wreak havoc amongst your neighbours!

Matron! Make sure Mr Arbuthnot escorts young Ron on his travels and keeps him out of trouble!

PS I hope you didn't get wet paddlin' around in your stream.

Thanks chaps. I'm well happy you like the water.

Dave - I'll have to be quick, I've given my escort the slip - For now!

The neighbours live sufficiently far away, and have enough notice to get indoors and hide when I skip past a'foraging in the ditches for that 'special' bit of greenery.

"Hello Mr. Arbuthnott. No, I'm fine thank you. Can you get your dogs to move so I can at least stand up?!"

Thanks Andy.
Mostly because of financial constraints I have to pootle along with basic of stuff anyway.

Anyway, I digress.
More midnight musing!
There has been a thunderstorm and puggles have formed on the farm track.

I used some clear plastic from a pork chop container.

Hi Ron
I like the puddles.
I suspect some folks buy "Fancy Products" as you call them, because they are a 'must have' sort of thing and could well end up in the back of a drawer.
..... in my case it is unfortunately the back of a drawer and two shelves of a cupboard :rolling: Your work shows that all I really need is to eat pizza and pork chops and use Wilkos and The Works for my moddelling supplies. Oh and a hell of a lot of skill! :tongue-out3:

Thanks for the positive comments and hanging on in, Jim. Much appreciated and helps keep my enthusiasm going.... :thumb2:

Today, I've tried to bring life to the water. That sounds like the start to a Sunday Exhortation!

Here's the result. I used clear silicone and a nail. Highlighted with white acrylics.

Having stopped laughing at the tales of foraging in the lanes and Grebe eyeing the dogs up, i've been admiring your handy work 570.

Your use of varnish for water is brilliant , when I tried I felt something was lacking, maybe the use of satin was incorrect. You certainly have the movement captured so well.
I've tried most of the "waters" , some are ok , others too long winded with thin applications. Not tried resin yet, as read so many articles about it being problematic so have stayed away so far.

Yours .

Thanks for all your most kind comments chaps. It really lifts me no end... :thumb2:

453 - Although I've not tried resin, I've seen the results. Once mixed and poured, most seem to gather around objects and raise around them. Then, if not mixed correctly get too hot and crack. Also, a big percentage turn slightly blue. Then of course is the smell and curing time.

No doubt in the right hands, good results might be obtained, but resin for model making is no good in the hands of this thick old joiner (Ret.)

Nah, I'll keep it simple.

Kind Regards.
