As Jim noted on my Hardy VC bust, my technique of using oils over acrylic is a slow one - lots of leaving it dry - so while waiting for one to dry I have made a start on another bust, this time a move away from WW1 to the ECW with my 'adter the battle' bust. Consisting of 8 parts it is of a musketeer returngin home after the battle so his cloths are a little dishevelled and hecis looking tired.

Here are the parts:

Not it's off to the airing cupboard

Good start Peter. I've just cleaned up my second set of your ECW busts, ready to have another go.

Jon & Mick - welccome aboard.
Peter - I hope you enjoy the busts, at least you can keep those!
Steve - the time it takes for oils to dry you're better with a flask of tea rather than a mug.

I had a good session today, not only working on Ferdinand, but also a chance to return to this project:

Here is the finished bust - sorry for the poorly lit photo:

Annoyingly, even after giving the red jacket a coat of Humbrol Matt Cote it still had a sheen. I got rid of most of the sheen by a m=small application of ground pastels - a technique I usecwhen weathering AFVs! It has helped to subdue the sheen.

I tried to give him a tired look ]. Hence the dark eyes.

Very nice indeed Peter. The pastel work certainly worked well.

Steve - I was pleasantly surprised by the pastels, I think that I will probably use it again
