Just had a catch-up. Outstanding work Ken. Wouldn't then know where to start......

Will be following with interest hopefully a bit more frequently.

Hi all I'm thinking of expanding this to include bodywork, interiors or any and all aspects of my modelling techs, firstly would anyone be interested, secondly should I post it all here or set up separate sections for each subject.
I’d definitely be interested. Might be worth a subject for each section though, it would be easier to refer back to.

Hi so heres another quickie (very messy one)

Take some AK real metal in this case steel put it on a cloth take some string and press it into the AK steel

IMG-8363.jpg

Fold the cloth over the string

IMG-8364.jpg

Put your fingers on the cloth over the string and pull the string through

IMG-8365.jpg

Lots of braided hoses, you can use different thicknesses for different sizes of hose or even double it put it in a dremel and spin it up to double the thickness.

Put some hearshrink on the ends and paint steel.

9OK so this next one will be in 2 parts as its more than 10 pics long.

Doing an old oily engine .

So heres how it looks before

IMG-8493.jpg
IMG-8494.jpg

First my favourite leaky engine product.

IMG-8495.jpg

So put it on joints or gasket areas (think about where a real engine would leak)(for anyone who doesn't know anything much about engines don't put it on fuel injection or electrical areas, fuel injectors do leak but not using this product)

IMG-8496.jpg

Whilst this is still wet my next favourite colour (I know you may be thinking is he nuts, but trust me)

IMG-8497.jpg

This is important keep engine in the orientation it will bevin the vehicle then load the brush with white spirit and flood the areas with the colours on them, you should end up with this.

Another of my favourite products

IMG-8501.jpg

I have an old stiff brush I use for stuff like this.

IMG-8502.jpg

Dip in the powder.

IMG-8503.jpg

And flick over the engine by pulling your finger through the bristles.

You should end up with this

Hi all this is how I do engine cases.

So first I prime it.

Then dab white in random places.

IMG-8690.jpg
IMG-8691.jpg

Then since it's already a light grey primer, I add a bit of darker grey(just for a bit of variation)

IMG-8697.jpg
IMG-8696.jpg
IMG-8693.jpg
IMG-8692.jpg

Now I just use a stiff brush lightly loaded with AK steel

And scrub over it all.

OK so now I mix a wash up using

IMG-8495.jpg

It's a very thin wash and I just run it in the nooks and crannies.

Then I make another thin wash using

IMG-8497.jpg

I put this over the whole engine(very quick don't move it about as you will wet the silver and it will all just end up looking a dirty mess) I let that dry then use

IMG-8497.jpg

And dust it all over the engine and give it a little buff up.
