Hi everyone,

Yes, you read it correct, entering an old Matchbox one to the GB.

Got it for a couple of euro’s last year at an air show and with a small part missing and the box crushed it isn’t collector mint anyway;).
Made one in my early moggler years so nice to build one again with some more knowledge and patience, remember when having enough pocket money quickly getting one from the shop and it was built and painted in a weekend:smiling:.

Contents of box, gotta love the two colours of the sprues:

Made a start this morning and with parts fitting very good, I ended with this:

Thanks for looking in.

I'm a Matchbox fan Fernando and love their fit but not necessary their deep engraved lines although I can still live with it. The Hurri looks the right shape.

Cheers,
Richard

Nice to see another winging thing.
Thanks Peter :thumb2:
Good to see you using the manufacturer’s approved technique for painting the pilot :smiling3:
Lol, just something I did when building these when I was a kid
Panel lines aren't too bad, well for 1973.
True and with a couple of coats of paint they won’t look as big:smiling:
gotta love multi coloured styrene
Yeah, brings back a memory of building a plane (Matchbox) not painting and adding the decals like on the side of the boxes:smiling4:

Sometimes you get a kit made by the ‘’mad trencher’’ still love them though:thumb2:
Fernando,
Looking good mate.
Thanks Paul:thumb2:

Afternoon all,

A bit of an update as I’ve entered the painting stage now:smiling4:

Finishing the fuselage was simple with some putty required around the wing roots.
Landing gear, cannons and other bits gave no trouble either.
The prop needed some careful sanding to get rid of the flash and fitted nicely, not too bad for an oldie like this one:cool:

Have her a coat of Grey primer and some Black for the pre-shade, Sky s is on here but I forgot to take a pic of the underside…:rolling:
Sprayed the spinner white here but later saw a Sky one as the instructions is better fitting as to the box-art one:

Dark earth was sprayed on first, carefully to keep the pre-shade intact and given a couple of days to dry.
With my trusty white-tack masking method the pattern was covered and filled in with masking tape:

First coat of Dark green on now, will let it dry and then see where more Green is needed:smiling::

Thanks for looking in and have a great week.

Did you have a Matchbox catalog back then?

Nice Jakko, think I saw the beginners how to in a Revell catalogue or maybe even a Matchbox:thinking:
Oh yes, this is looking great Fernando. Memories!
Thanks Joe:thumb2:
Looking good Fernando. At the mo it looks like a patient just coming out of plastic surgery. :smiling2:

Cheers,
Richard
Lol, no scratch building was even involved in this one :tears-of-joy:
Hi Fernando
Certainly a golden oldie. Great progress and looking very good.
Jim
Golden oldie indeed, the reboxed version by Revell holds up to too as I recall from some years ago, think that one has a DAF and a CBI version in it:smiling:

Evening all,

Some more progress to show of my Hurricane:smiling4:
Managed to tidy up the airbrush work last weekend, also most of the detail painting is done now.

A thing or two might still be needed but she's covered in a coat of gloss for the decals and weathering:

Think I’ll give the next kit who has Sky S a lighter pre-shade than this one as the underside seems a bit too dark compared to the tail band.
We’ll see what the weathering will do to it:thinking:

Morning all,

Lee, Rick and Richard thanks guys:thumb2:, had to make up the pattern on the right-side as the box left that out.

Made a start on the decals last Wednesday and even they had white carrier film and a little of register the wings roundels weren’t all that bad:

Moving on to the fuselage roundel and id letters, this turned out to be a disaster, with parts letting loose during positioning…
With oversized letters too, I decided to remove these, toss them and repainted the affected areas:

Found a Xtradecal sheet with similar markings like these, it’s on its way from the UK now:smiling:
On hold for now, hopefully I can resume work on this one quickly...

Fernando
