Hi Folks,

As the title alludes to; this is a figure bust built from scratch. Sculpted and built from epoxy resin (Green Stuff entirely) with only a few basic tools. This was done on a whim because I wanted a new challenge. It's a German WW2 soldier, I would estimate the scale at 1/9 -1/10. This was done with virtually no video aids or anything like that, I just went for it, 20230723_193545.jpg20230723_193421.jpg20230723_193439.jpg20230723_193446.jpg20230723_193449.jpg20230723_193507.jpg20230723_193515.jpg20230723_193520.jpg20230723_193456.jpgthe only hint I took on board was using a copper wire armature as a base to build/form the resin.
It may not look 100% accurate but I'm fairly satisfied with the result. The hardest part was sculpting the helmet! Again it's not a carbon copy but hopefully you can discern what it's supposed to be!

Hope you all enjoy it and I welcome feedback.

Well Gavin I reckon that's quite an achievement. Your first effort so I'll bet you learned a lot which will help with future scratch built figures.

Not a thing I have tried Gavin, you've done extremely well . Having seen how they are made with the wire and putty it's not easy by a long shot .
The Committee are fully agreed that you should have

Award . Congratulations.

Thank you John, very kind of you! It was/is very difficult. I'd say it's nearly impossible to achieve the same finish, detail and accuracy as a cast moulded figure....

Gavin.

Well done in your first attempt. I have no doubt you will improve your techniques as well as your tool line with each new sculpt. Looking forward to your next project.:thumb2:

Thanks. I'm unsure if I will sculpt again. To get a likeness the same as a cast injection moulded figure is virtually impossible I'd say. But I enjoyed it nonetheless so i might attempt an full length figure next time. G
