Evening all.

Just a quick question to them as might know. Does anyone know if the foot plates on the turntable would have been steel or wooden slats ?

I'm guessing Tamiya would probably say if they were wood but I've never seen a real one in the flesh so I'm just assuming.

Thanks, Dan.

Dan,
As far as I know they are metal, but I am happy to be proved wrong.

I think we have a case of VARIANTS. There are metal slats, wooden slats and wooden slats with metal holders. I would imagine wood would be popular especially on the Eastern Front with added grip during the winter months. I will ask the experts and see what they say. A very interesting question Dan. Hunker down for Friday as the SWest is being hit by floods - AGAIN!

Brilliant Steve, the perfect answer thanks !
I suppose it might not only be down to where they were deployed but also what materials were available at the time of production ?
Guess I'll go for the natural look. Another chance for a bit of detail.

As for the weather, I'm heading up-country out of the way tonight so will hopefully return in a few days to lovely spring weather.

Essential travel, obviously. I'd much rather be building my kit.

For Eastern Front - I'd say wood, as it'd stop feet getting frozen to the metal during winter ;)
