ive started my figures for the Italy dio and I've tried doing the oak leaf camo on the uniforms and I'm uncertain as to if it looks right View attachment 107190

Looks okay to me. I like the fact he has a Gewehr 43 too, should look great when all painted.

With the help of Robert1968 kindly sending me some close up photos which unfortunately is beyond my ability in the scale I was however able to see more clearly and come up with this View attachment 107197

View attachment 107198

the close ups make it look a bit ropy but at a normal distance they look ok not perfect by any means but better

Thanks again Robert :smiling3:

Hi Alan. I'm not sure what reference you are using but it looks like the pattern you are trying to recreate is the Dot Pea pattern, which looks like this.

Oak Leaf has two patterns

Spring

Fall

Be that as it may, if you want a really good reference for painting German camouflage I highly recommend a book from Osprey Publishing. The Title is Modelling Waffen SS Figures. The author is Calvin Tan. He has a very easy to follow narrative that details what colours to use, what mixes to get them, and which to put on first.

Here's a few I have done using his methods.

very nice info Ty,

its a big help ,thank you,

I think for a 1st try at it Alan, its ok,as remember your not paint on a flat surface,

so the patten dose not have a real uniform shape to it, ;)

Cheers ty I appreciate the info and your dio is superb :smiling3:

Cheers moni your right and in reality on a figure as small as that you wouldn't make out most of that camo but it's always helpful for doing 1/12 scale figures :smiling3:
