A lost WW2 German U Boat rumoured to be carrying over 500 gold bars has been found 2 miles down on the Atlantic sea bed...

The position is being kept a secret, but the expedition leader, Capt. R. Suppards was said to be 'Hopeful' that this wreck was indeed U 534 which escaped from St. Nazaire in March 1945 loaded with Nazi gold and was destined for South America, but was sunk by Allied warships enroute.

After extensive research the U boat's last known position was plotted and last week she was finally located.

Due to the extreme depth and darkness, little marine growth has established itself on the wreck.

The expedition team has just released this picture, showing the new DRV 'Si 1' examining the U Boat. The picture was taken from a remote controlled RV.

The submarine U534 on the Wirral was suspected of carrying Nazi gold ,which they believed because it didnt surrender when it was supposed to like all the others who did and was sunk.

It was raised years ago and placed in the Wirral.

But so far they havnt found any gold after cutting it into 3 sections.

Anyone never been there its worth a visit as it contained all the gear used on a sub which is on display as well as the 3 sections which you can see into.

Thanks fellas, just a bit of fun and I'm glad it worked.

Nice to have a vessel named after you eh Si?...even a small one!

Harry,I live quite close to where the Birkenhead U boat is. I went to see it when it was in one piece. The museum where going to clean it up and then open it up to the public......

Then good old Health and Safety stepped in....They were worried people would bang their heads when inside the sub!! So the museum had to cut it into three and blank the ends off with glass. What a load of nonsense.

Ron

I have not been back to see the end result - and I doubt I will either. Yet another good scheme ruined by crass stupidity!!,

H&S b******t goes overboard again. I am sure if there was to have been a board outside the sub explaining the risk of banging your head it would have done. That way you go in at your own risk if you bump your head tough you were warned.

Nice build bythe way and you had me going from the thread title. :smiling3:

Thanks for the posts boys....

Tony, you remember old R. Suppards then?! The sub is made from a 1/48 aircraft drop tank, an undercarriage leg for the camera pod and an old aircraft wheel for the prop. The bit on the top is just a piece of sprue.

Harry, I might well change my mind....it just annoyed me at the time when the museum was forced by idiots into such drastic action, and after all the time and money they spent on the project. I just didn't think it would be still worth visiting, cut up and all.....

Terry and Gregg...To quote the famous line from the 'A' Team - "Don't you love it when a plan goes right?"

Cheers,

Ron

I seem to remember at the time being told it was to allow disabled people the opportunity to look inside. I think it was criminal to cut the sub up and whoever sanctioned it should be on criminal charges. They had no right to do such a thing, they don't own it, it is a piece of history owned by everyone. Why these idiots in councils seem to think they have the right to do what they want without being held accountable completely escapes me.

I luckily got a chance to look through it before the morons cut it up and posted all the pictures on here in my gallery.

I for one am getting a bit fed up of all these sunken wreck type models ...... I mean ... You buy a perfectly good kit then cover it in muck and stuff, spend ages getting it to look exactly like it been at the bottom of the ocean for ages .... Then you have to go and take pictures of it that make it look absolutely real and a few people have to second guess their selves ...... Hold on .... I didn't think this through really did I? ....

Cracking job ron, as always ..... And I hope I got you on the hook just as much as you did me when I glimpsed at this thread ... It didn't even click that you'd used the same model sub at first.

Regard

Mr. I M Gullible.

Mr I.M. Gullible,

I'm sorry to read you think my feature is not quite what it seems. I can assure you there was no attempt at trickery on my part. Surely you believe everything you read in newspapers and see on T.V?

The assumption that it is a model is one that I find very offensive and quite untrue.

This draws a parallel with those who are convinced the Americans never landed on the moon....of course they did!!

I give you 10mins. to retract your slanderous post. I have informed you before now that I know your whereabouts...The committee are waiting to travel.....

Dear capt. Suppards

If I believed everything on local media then I would have perfect skin, have a perfect figure with beautiful hair sitting on a beach advertised by the best travel agent ... All paid for by securing a payday loan that is so easy to pay back due to their low Apr.

I would also be watching the latest moon landing on my brand new, up to date mobile television DooDah purchased interest free? At my local 'cheap' brighthouse store.

If you wish to discuss this further in person, then as you have indicated above, you know my location and so I will be waiting for your visit with the kettle on ... May even have some biccies.

Regards

I M Gullible.

Kalm down, kalm down, kalm down,(in Liverpool accent)

Whilst I was there it did cross my mind that they cut it in three so as it fitted in the space it now occupies .

And judging by the state of the internals I don't think it could have been renovated to any standard.

So I think the option to cut it and look in was a good one because you can have 4 views up it.

And they don't like it up em.

Besides the inside of the museum is worth a look any ways it would take 2 days to read it all.

All in all I thought it was a good display

Proof of the pudding ,go and have a gander thyself.

And if you buy a combo ticket you can also have a go on the "Ferry across the Mersey ".
