Hey guys, what are some good youtubers/dvd/books for model brush painters. It seems like everyone does air guns and its hard to find any videos (i watch them for tips) on pure brush painting scale models. Thanks

You will probable get a different take than mine on your question, but to be honest tenchu, I wouldn't bother with any of the things you mention. To me, brush painting is rather like learning to ride a bike.....sooner or later you have to do it without your dad holding on to you!

So, don't waste money or time, get some plastic cups or similar, practice your technique, different types of brush and paints on these, then buy some cheap kits and paint these. Nothing beats 'Hands on'

Another superb source for help and guidance is on here.....just ask and the answer will follow.

My late dad always reminded me....

He who watches or listens forgets...

He who does, remembers.........Here endeth the lesson!

It's funny but now you mention it I realise that I have never read any sort of book or watched any video on brush painting. When you consider the diverse techniques involved with weathering or a high gloss motorcycle fairing makes you realise that we do actually pick up quite a bit as we go along and, as Ron says, you can't beat getting stuck in.

One thing I always recommend is to have samples available and test techniques and paint compatibly etc. before committing to the model.

That is another really useful post as well and no-one does a better brush painting job than Ron.

This is the sort of thing I have to hand when I'm playing around with new ideas and combinations. If I ever make anything from scratch I invariably make a bit more than I need so I have some samples to play with. These samples were for deck and bulwark finishes on the Ben Ain model.
