Time I put the plastic away and tried another card kit slightly a bit easier than my stalled aircraft carrier.
A lot of glueing, folding and cutting out involved a tiny bit of painting needed but where I am going to put it I don't know yet.
Here's whats been done the top of cockpit has been done plus two sub assemblies one of witch is the completed cockpit.
And a pic of the rather confusing instructions is also includedP1040145.JPG P1040146.JPG P1040147.JPG P1040148.JPG P1040149.JPG P1040150.JPG

Here's what's been done today and this rather fiddly as today's work will testify as all I have done is the forward gun turret above the cockpit the final front sub assembly plus the bomb aimer's front window and that took three goes and the same in hours to get it right.
And the rear gunners seatP1040151.JPG P1040152.JPG P1040153.JPG P1040154.JPG

Nice start Peter, a real monster of a kit. And yes, those instructions are something else! Did you see my response re the wheel sizes?

Thanks for that I found some rc wheels that fitted the bill nicely.

Good progress Peter.

After I finished my card model of the Calmac Ferry 'Bute' on here, I swore never again! But I went and bought me another card model which is sitting half done, staring at me. Daring me to do some more on the infernal thing.

Scribe and fold, scribe and fold - sweet memories......

It was bad enough having to paint all the bare card edges on the small ferry, but to have to do them all on this monster - No thank you.

However, I'm sure you will succeed and make a cracking job of the aircraft.

Time to have another go still concentrating on the fuesalge this time it's the centre and rear section.
Here's some of the bits.
And the centre section in place.
It looks a bit rough at the moment but I have plans in place to tidy it up.WP_20181003_18_00_51_Pro.jpgWP_20181003_18_01_36_Pro.jpgWP_20181003_18_09_56_Pro.jpgWP_20181003_18_25_09_Pro.jpgWP_20181003_18_52_40_Pro.jpg

Hi Peter,

I've got a couple of 1/25 card AFV's and a 1:1 AK47 somewhere - never got around to trying them. Decided they would be best used like a set of plans and just scratch the things in plastic - much easier!

How on earth do you fix things like the wonky window frames and body joints and the bits where the printed patterns do not match between sections??

Do you have to reinforce things such as wings with balsa or something so they don't sag or will it all be card?

I was very impressed by the table of paper and card models at the Brampton IPMS show last weekend. Didn't think such detail was possible.

Peter you have a fellow builder in card I have 4 monsters to be built but like you I dont know where they are going to go
I have a B29 and bell x1 and a B52 and X-15 you can probably already see where they are going and to finally put the nail in the coffin so to speak a Vulcan BMK2 and SR71 all card and all 1/33 scale + 4 1/200 Hindenburgs each nearly 4ft long when they are built
One question have you used the kit parts or have you supplemented with them with additional card / plywood struts I will be following this one closely to see how you get on and hopefully pick up some tips on the way
Card is a very underated source where in actual fact some superb models easily rivalling convential kits and costing substantially less can be produced

At the moment I have put this on on the back burner for the time being as my heart is not in it.
