I think the word of the day for me is 'Evocative'. That is such a fine dio' I'm there, stood by the side of that engine. Brilliant.

Sorry I'm late. The story is inspirational and the modelling on another level. Are you sure those are not photo's of the real thing ?
Exceptionally well done. Keep up the good work.
John.

Wo hey!
What marvelous posts. Thank you all so much. It means so much to me to receive such a great response from you superb bunch of people.

However......My wife has had a look at the posted pictures first and then at the 'Real thing' and was shocked just how small the diorama is. She also observed there were no overall general shots of the model. She has insisted I correct these omissions.

Could it be a Catch 22? Suffer the wrath of the wife - or risk boring my friends on here with a few more photos.

Sorry folks, but NO contest......

Stop Press. She has just kissed the top of my head and whispered in my lug 'ol "There's a good boy, now go outside and cut the grass before it rains!"

Don't you just love a good and kind woman?!

Cheers.

Fantastic Ron,

The last pic really brings the whole project into perspective. Good of the wife to suggest it.

Looking at it once again though, I have noticed one small bit that you have missed Sir or maybe overlooked...........

There is no rack of beer next to the shed door.........

Great posts again. Thank you Kevin, Allen and Dave.

A couple of swift observations, if I may.....

Allen, if nothing else, your comments just go to prove a woman is always right.

David. That is an awful thing to say - I never leave empties lying around. I'm a good citizen and re-cycle every one of them. I do have an extra container, mind...... :hungry:

Yours.

I wasn't implying you'd just leave them lyin' around Ron; I know you'd keep them tidy and eventually recycle them! My point was that any beer bottles left around near you would be empty!

That is quite simply stunning. :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2:

There is nothing not to love about it. Nothing not be thoroughly impressed with.... And a whole lot to be jealous about.,

Those first few pictures in particular I had to do a double take on.

I am in awe.

Ps I'm now going to find a dark corner, curl up into a ball and consider the futility of my modeling existence....

The toughest critic of all, all my son aka junior, has described your your efforts as "Pretty cool!".

He even wondered if the pool of water standing by the loco was real.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is a stunning effort!

No danger of boring us with more photos Ron, I'm enjoying seeing more of a very good build. All the little details are what I notice in the new pics, they make the scene look 'lived in'.:thumb2:

Just re-read this and I'm guessing it's just me, but I couldn't spot the surprise you promised.

PS What's happened to the church in Dapol? Have you upset the lads so they've b******d off without finishing it or haven't you had any decent weather to take pics?

I'm lost for words Ron. Once again a stunning piece of modelling and a very emotional story too. I've worked on the railway for over 25 years now and can testify to those bonds that exist still to this day between members of our railway family.

Cheers Gents.
Your posts make for most excellent reading, thank you.

Dave. The surprises were the water and also the 'slogan' on the loco's windbreaker. These were the only features I didn't take pictures of during the construction of the diorama.
Sorry if you expected summat a bit more exciting....

Also, the church is finished, but as you suggest, the weather thus far has been s***! Hopefully I can complete the project once the 'currant bun' shines through.

Thanks again for all your input chaps.

Ron
