We have just returned from a very nice week on the Channel Island of Guernsey.

Unknown to us there was an Air Display at St. Peter Port - the main harbour for the island. so we were very lucky to have chosen this week to visit the place!

Anyway, we found a great viewing spot way above the town. Unfortunately, because of safety reasons, the display took place away from the port out at sea between Guernsey and Herm, So we were a bit out of the way, but still had a great time.

Photographing was hard, They were that far away in reality, I could almost cover the aircraft with my thumb nail, so I had to have the camera on full zoom, and had to try and track the fast moving aircraft and hope for the best.....

Here are a few pictures for you to see, but because taking the pictures was so difficult, some tend to be a bit blurred.

The Royal Navy 'Black Cats' display team using the Wildcat multi role helicopter....

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. My first ever viewing of all three aircraft together.

The fort at St. Peter Port....Heads down! This was how far away the aircraft generally where.

Breitling Wingwalkers. These two women on the wings were total nutters! They even climbed back into the cockpit during the display......

Pitts S2S.. This thing did stunts that defied belief. It went that fast I could hardly keep up with it - apart from one stunt when it was vertically motionless (prop hanging) for 30 seconds and never moved! Camera focused, then a bloke walked in front of me.....!

Again too fast to photo properly!

Thanks Ian and Monica. Yes we did, it is a superb Island, just 25sq. miles of slo' mo' heaven.... 30mph max, 15mph down lanes where walkers, cyclists and horses can be expected.

Sorry, I was back there for a minute...I'm glad you like the pictures, which I hope will be of some interest to our aircraft building members on S.M.

Cheers,

Ron

Brilliant Ron, and very well done getting any pics at that distance. What a fantastic blue sky to photograph against. Shame about the gate crashers, I believe they get about a bit in the summer.

Thanks for putting the pics on. The BBMF are fantastic. I used to live just a couple of miles away from RAF Coningsby were they are based and would often see them flying around. Since my move to Norfolk I miss seeing them, especially the Lanc as this is my all time favourite aircraft.
