These American box cars make great canvasses for endless weathering projects. Very subdued compared to some I’ve seen.

Hi Lee
Looks great. Do you have to source special decals for such as this? Also what are Kadee Couplers?
Jim
Yes there’s lots of companies that make Decals Jim. Kadee is a company name there the best in the business for Model Railroad products. Thanks for the complement.

Thanks for the complement Andrew. This is my only 3 Boxcar I’ve done I think I’m getting the hang of this weathering Freight Cars.

Thanks Lee
I thought that Kadee Couplers were the name give to the real thing. I didn't think they were a model company. I'll have to Google them

Jim. Kadee IS the Model company’s name they make all kinds of Model parts for different scale Railroad models. I don’t know the name of the real coupler name. I’m sorry I didn’t explain it better.

I’ve always known them as knuckle or buckeye couplings…but apparently they are called Janney couplings….have a look here.
Thanks Tim. I’ve know about the American one but not the others. Not to get of topic a bit but a couple years ago I delivered to the old American Car and Foundry co. in St. Charles Missouri. This is where a lot of railroad cars and parts were built.

Nice……love the clerestory car. Very complex roof on them that must be a nightmare to scratchbuild…six wheel bogies as well. :thumb2: Is that your truck?

Thanks for the complement John. I’m not that good but I appreciate it. I’ll have another one soon done and I’ll post it.
