Hi guys

This is my '84 NSR 500, 1/12 by Tamiya. I was immediately attracted by the unique design of this bike the moment I knew About it. With its expansion chamber on top of the engine and fuel tank at the bottom, it was the complete opposite to all other motorcycles and a real engineering singularity imo.

It is a bit sad that the beautiful hoses in sky blue must be hidden away as the build went on. As for the burnt effects for the top mounted exhausts, I was more confident after my 1199 Superleggera.

After applying the blue decals for the bodywork, I wasn't happy with the outcome so I painted the blue bits with Tamiya X-3 Royal Blue, which turned out to be great Imo, although it took me a lot extra time to mask, not only for the blue, but for the white stripes. The yellow decals for the race number was a challenge for me, as it must be softened enough to cover quite a lot curved surfaces as well as sharp corners. After all body painting and varnishing, I painted the rivets with liquid chrome using a super fine brush.

For this build, I also filmed some of the processes and edited them into a video. You can find it here on YouTube:

Hope you enjoy it!
