These have come out really well. Lining with transfers seems a lot easier than in the old days. I used to use humbrol paint, a bow pen and ruler…..very hit and miss, especially on curves. Drove me mad to be honest….

So a tender for the unlined black duchess next. Decided the base (wheels and frames etc) are too good to restore so I shall just spray top and leave the coal as plastic as original.

Black undercoat, black top coat, satin varnish and then LMS decals.

Looking good James. What do you do with them when you’re finished restoring them?

I just put them back on eBay where they came from. I use them as practice really for my air brushing as if I mess them up I can just restrip and they don't cost alot.

Fair enough. I was thinking you must have quite a few by now and couldn’t quite see how you displayed them.

A productive day today, although had a few disasters.
Real issue with my varnish. Apply decals, even a drop of water and my varnish is lifting?? Haven't changed anything and am using the same varnish, not sure what the issue is.

Anyway the locos I have done this leave are all photographed together here, next 9 in progress. Be sad to see the BR green ones go as they look quite nice together.

So after deciding not to buy anymore bodies a few I couldn't resist popped up. 6 arrived and 3 more coming next week.
Starting to look more like a factory production line!

I sell them on to new homes usually but one I have is coming with a chassis so I maybe starting a new collection.
I have a shelf the length of my shed which would suit a bit of track along it to display a couple.

I'm glad our modelling is appreciated :tears-of-joy:

More steamy goodness! Strikes me that you could use these to finance the start of a collection if you were so interested…..

Yeah seems very mixed what they go for though. Some quite simple designs seem to fetch far more.

Issue I have is sourcing tenders for a realistic price. Duchess class bodies are easy to come by and I enjoy doing them but the tenders are now at least the lion's share of 20 quid each including postage unless you get a lucky break.

Got a batch of 9 N2s being blasted currently and at least these don't need the tenders.
