Good old Dulux tester pots matched up at the DIY shop makes for economical paint finishing,so far 4x coats of dark earth and the first green coat on this evening, paint dries darker when dry and after a few coats covers well, first of 4x paddle blade propellers and spinners turned on my wood lathe was assembled today, looks like we are on schedule with the Lancaster,a few weeks ago it was no more than a few blocks of scrap foam and now we have a iconic bomber for display on VE Day next year.
Next is some RDM2 Matt black allready for the undersides

Dodging in between the showers today I managed to get the RDM2 Anti reflective searchlight paint on the Lancaster,a good match was found with Farrow & Ball Night black Number 256.

Wrapping up the Avro Lancaster, the squadron codes were added '9J-L PB731 my fathers aircraft when with 227 Squadron Bomber Command, the red codes have yellow outlines still to be executed when my hands are steady enough to tackle those, flaps added these were made from printers litho plate crimped at the edges, undercarriage doors added too.
Fairey Firefly shown alongside for size comparison, the Lancaster is 50 inches wingspan.
Time to get out the Shorts Stirling bomber now for the next restoration job and perhaps I can get that ready in time too for the VE Day celebrations May 2020.
