Slow progress due to busying myself with other stuff than modelling of late, but I painted the idler wheels, return rollers and roadwheel rims with olive drab where the dust would have been rubbed off them:

And then I gave the upper hull and turret a wash of sand-coloured paint to represent dust having settled there:

It all needs a bit more work to get a more dusty-looking effect, though, as well as where it has been rubbed off in places the crew would walk, grab, etc.

I did some more touching up to the dust as well as a bit of drybrushing with it, then turned to the other things I still needed to finish. First, fuel spills:

This is basically Tamiya Smoke with some blotches of Mig Dark Wash applied over it and blended in, plus some semi-drybrushing with olive drab to soften the edges, then followed by a coat of matt varnish to get rid of the shine. Also, I painted/drybrushed black for the exhaust stain in and above the deflector.

And the machine gun:

Straight from the box, painted gun metal and with some dark wash added, while the OD parts were painted much like the rest of the tank.

And with that, I think this model is finished.

Hi Jakko
Another fine model. Dusty finish is nice - settled into the corners etc.

Very nice Jakko, looks just as you would expect a front line tank would.

Well worth the effort seeing how it looks now.

Thanks, guys :smiling3:

looks just as you would expect a front line tank would.
That is pretty much my aim, yes. I’m not one for what I’ve seen being called the “Spanish School” of chipped paint and rust everywhere, nor the “Adam Wilder” school of highlights and shadows everywhere, but do want my models to look convincingly like a real tank of its time and place would. In this case, that’s dusty and with spilled fuel all over the place (the Soviets seem to have not cared much about wasting a bit of diesel :smiling3:).
