Thanks Terry. I ended up with the plastic. Yet to unmask the thing so hoping it is all still there when the tape comes off!

Final finish coat is on, nav lights are painted in, exterior stores fitted and canopy masking is off. All glazing survived the months of being under layers of tape, paint and varnish. A little bit dirty but it's okay. Completed build thread being posted shortly.
