Hi all
Hope you are all staying safe during the current crisis. This is something Junior wanted to share with you.
So his sister aka Junioress needed some modroc - a modelling Plaster of Paris bandage - for her art homework, so we ordered for some. She though had far more than she needed - total length of the four rolls was 11m (by 15cm).
Junior decided he'd like to have a go with making something and came up with the idea of filling a latex glove with sand to make a substructure, cover it with vaseline as a lubricant, build a modroc hand around the glove, when complete release the sand, remove the glove and voila!
It's really easy, if a bit messy, to use. Simply cut the bandage into to strips of the desired width, dip in water for a few seconds, wring out the excess water, apply to the substructure ad repeat the process building up the layers
I'd not heard of it before but having seen some of the things online people have done it's really versatile and I can think of some uses for my wargaming scenery.
So far most parts have had at least 2-3 layers. Six is the recommended amount for the sake of strength. You'll also see it's a bit rough. The substructure was not the most rigid s it was not the easiest to work with but that's fine. Now we have the first couple of layers down we can take more care in smoothing it about as we apply more layers.
