Well this will be one of the first to Re-Vist. I didn’t get any of the Cockpit Painted pic before sealing it up. This build was bit of a change being it was already started when I bought it and putting in a Aftermarket Cockpit was just too overwhelming at the time. Last night I worked on it and this morning and got it to this point. I ordered some Aftermarket decals for it I examined the ones I had and I wasn’t very happy with them so I’ll be going a different route with the decals. The Canopy Color I had to mix to Match and paint it with a Cocktail stick. I have a few more pieces to add after the decals are in place and this build will be finished. 6E73FEE2-39A5-4B99-A23E-822DC1EE0AF4.jpegC2F88941-8AC0-4A35-A634-CD246191F1DB.jpeg992429C5-6C49-467C-A868-B1FFEF8144EE.jpegEFFD1DE0-E0F0-4918-8C73-464A4D70815B.jpeg51736F22-082E-405E-BF9E-D7E4A1918582.jpegB5A20234-2F82-4F39-A9C1-1A9EF3156EC1.jpeg6D08C727-F3E1-466A-8C8A-2B0BC4269800.jpegF73CBD9A-152A-4821-BF74-EF658A15E6C6.jpegE6723A98-D77E-4099-8522-5DE61E07056B.jpeg1B6B84DD-7240-4BE3-AD71-46B325D0050E.jpeg

Completely missed this.

I know some people with their noses up at the old kits but I made my first Monogram kit a could of years ago, a 1/72 110 and it was a pretty simple build that turned out a decent kit.

Keep up the great work.

Lee, how I wish they made these in 1-87 scale.........I have long thought about doing a Pacific Island Airfield and all they have available is the cast iron toylike Wildcat in skyblue paint......for almost $30.00 plus P&H. Never been a fan of the Wildcat.....crappy looking landing gear.......oh, that reminds me, they come wheels up on a stand....no good for a dio. Anyhow, I'm glad you are going to finish this up as I thought it was the bomb way back when you first started it. :thumb2: :thumb2:

Andrew thanks for the complement. I really like the older kit more that the new ones in 1/48 scale. These old Monogram kits are still the best in my book to build. Like you said simple but has decent details to fit the bill.

Thanks Rick for the complement. It’s would be great to offer all the Great War Birds in 1/87 scale guys like you and PaulE could complete at lot of dreams in 1/87. I’m glad you liked it back then and now. The decals I was going to use I just didn’t like. The Wild cat isn’t my favorite just because of that landing gear in the future I will build one in 1/48 scale.

Worked some more on this the decals arrived a couple weeks ago but just haven’t felt like putting them on till this morning. I had to make the front doors to the landing gear. I got them in place as well as some of the decals. Hopefully by this evening this one will be off the bench. Hi Lee
Well for an old kit which had been started that's a cracking result. A real silk purse from a sow's ear.
