howsit .. our local hobby shop has no stock of any tamiya masking tape or another make for that matter ... r there any other alternatives that also do a good enough job ....tx Lindsey

Humbrol do a brush on liquid mask, I haven't used it on scale models but I have used it on polycarbonate rc car shells before and It was quite successful :smiling3:

That would be Maskol and yes it has it's uses but be careful. It contain ammonia and will eat into certain varnishes like Klear

I use Tamiya maskig tape.I bought three rolls recently from the scale models shop.Cost £1 more (for three) than one roll from my local hobby shop.

B & Q were advertising a masking tape which had an edge which did not allow (?) paint to flow under it. That of course is the idea of all masking tapes but this one supposedly is better at it.

I found four rolls of 24mm x 12m decorator's tape in a pack at my local poundshop. I don't use it for fine masking but it works well for 'filling in' behind the thinner, better Tamiya tape I use and for larger stuff where a precise edge is not critical ('boot' lines on ship's hulls for example). It's also very useful for holding bits together while test fitting and/or waiting for glue to set.

I use 3m masking tape that is sold at paint and body supply shops
