Micro Masking Tape

I have been using home-cut narrow strips of tape for canopies, but 0.4 mm is incredibly narrow. Of course, the narrower it is, the easier it is to go round bends (the sort of bends that are like a road curving to left or right on flat ground, as distinct from the sort like a straight road whose gradient is constantly increasing, if that is clear.) The second type is easy to mask. But when would 0.4 mm be helpful?

Hi Steve,

Im thinking 0.4 masking tape might be useful for pin striping masking, well that was only thought so far.

Cheers,Ben

Yes good product John.

As said above by Steve it goes well around curves plus bing so thin there is some stretch in it.

Be interested to find John if it gives a good clean line without seepage under the tape.

0.4mm would be good for making aircraft walkway lines. Saves using decals with the risk of silvering

Nowt wrong with that is there ... looks good stuff, and a nice tidy job John.

That 0.4 stuff equates to 14mm at 1/35 so you could even use it as rank stripes on uniforms at a push eh....?

Masking tapes at this size are great for very small windows in models. This is what I have done/doing on voyager, basically drill out the window slits with a 1mm drill, tidy up the hole with needle files then fill the hole with either canopy glue or clearfix. once this is dried use the masking tape to create a nice square/rectangle window over the canopy glue then paint the model, once model is dry remove the masking tape and you have a nice clear neat window at a very small size.
