Still chipping away at this thing, do not want to overdo it, but having driven this type of machine I know how much abuse they get from the ground they work on so I may have to strip some more paint later.
Loosely assembled the frame and engine to have a look see. 50069894021_4b2afe2f90_b.jpg

All opinions and advice welcome as this is the first time I have tackled this type of work.

Slowly moving along with this model and it never fails to entertain, and annoy me at the same time.

I keep shifting from the big bits to the not so big bits, like all the fiddly stuff to construct the winches.

I will get there although it looks like it will be a fight to get ropes through those sheaves as there is not much clearance.

Well use thin thread instead of thick rope:smiling::smiling::smiling:

Andy. I would try thin craft wire you will have more control over it like I used on this 1/48 winch. And it’s more convincing and will not collect dust. 07AAB68B-2DBC-4B05-9064-F7BED99B0D92.jpeg402B8934-9693-44D0-B088-906D960EE21A.jpeg

Not much done the last few days, been on the bike, too busy in the garden, fell asleep, or any other excuse will do. However, I decided to have a change and have another look at the tracks.

I mean, with parts as big and strong as that what could go wrong?
Fit the bits together and glue the pins to the pad.

Then when fully set just click them together.

They even came out straight.

They are workable as the picture shows but as the sprockets and idlers are fixed it is a bit of a time waster, link and length would have done the job, still, only another 62 to do so that will keep me going until my varnish arrives.

That is very good to know. I think I would have tried putting the links together before the glue sets, but if they will go together after the glue dries, things should be much simpler.

I may try that method with the other track as the one I have done has developed a distinct curve, not that it matters as they will be glued on so I will be able to eliminate the curve.
