Now this is a refreshingly different use for some army surplus......

Nice one Jim. Great imagination, leaving loads of scope for additions.

I can sense you are having fun with this build - and it shows!

Top work.

Ron

Thanks so much Ron, I just need different subject matter every now and then to keep it fun and give new life for older already built kits. As far as "scope for additions" it's virtually endless. Am thinking of fabricating a dozer blade from scratch for Sherman, complete with full hydraulics. There I go again biting off a big chew, better than just building kit after kit.

Cheers.....Jim :smiling3:

Super work on the weathering Jim, the chipping and rust are near perfect

Thanks Bob, I usually try to be as subtle as possible, but these are a bit extreme on purpose. They live in a harsh, damp and mostly cold environment and are not coddled in the least.

Active vehicles can collect rust but it's kept beaten down by constant wear and tear, I wanted them to be a bit rusty but not have that over done scrap yard look. Bit more done, but must know when to call a halt, except for weathering of tools and other external do-dads. I use only the cheapest acrylic craft paints.100_7331.JPG Also a pic or two of some other "active rust" as I call it on my Hunting Tiger ;) .....Jim :smiling3:

Phenomenal work Jim. Like the weather according to actual use method you have applied. The chains on the wheels of the halftrack are very nice. love the tank tracks and chains hanging on the front of it too.
