I appear to have the "edit" button now though, thanks John (I presume)
No that was me. So I have to ask. why didn't you edit the posts lol.
I have removed the double post and all the posts referring to them.
Sometimes the forum has a fit and the post is delayed in coming up on the page.

What type of paint do you guys use, Enamel or acrylic?
Give me something to mull over whilst I'm on holiday from tomorrow ;)

Acrylic for me these days Bob. I cut my teeth on Humbrol, but the modern acrylic paint has too many advantages for me to go back. The only thing I think enamels are better at is dry brushing. They can be sprayed or brushed, but are slower drying than acrylic. I find that a disadvantage for the type of painting I do. They can be blended on the model quite nicely, but these days I prefer a different technique so don’t use them.
Just keep in mind that Tamiya and Vallejo type acrylic paints are different animals.
Tamiya/Mr hobby type paints are horrible for brush painting but spray excellently from an airbrush when thinned with Mr Color levelling thinner.
Vallejo/Games Workshop/ Lifecolour etc paints are great for brush painting but are a fiddle to spray.
Both clean up with water though, whereby enamels need white spirit.
I would read around and ask though, because my experience may differ from others.

Which ever one is the colour or finish I need to get the job done. I must admit though these days I am leaning more and more on Acrylics.

I don't have any experience with acrylic for models, but do use them for my home paint jobs.
I used to get headaches with the smell of oil based paint, and acrylic (water based) didn't effect me at all, and I loved the fact that I could clean the brush in water. :smiling3:
I always used Humbrol enamels in the past though, as I think that was the only paints available back then?
I guess it'll be trial & error for a while eh
Thanks for your input chaps.

OK, back from a brilliant holiday in Kos.
Didn't get the Seafire on eBay,. it went for £44 (i think)
There are a couple of other irons in the fire, so will keep looking.
In the meantime I'll get some paint, and Start to build the original Revill one I bought ;)
Good to be back here

I have discovered an Airfix 1/48 Sea Fury in my stash that you're welcome to - no cost - just PM me with your address if you're interested. I've stopped wingy things except for the Group Builds I've signed up for so it would otherwise languish under my bench for ever! If it's not your thing then the offer is open to all and sundry ... !

It's one of the great things about this hobby..... People providing all kinds of things for nothing.... I've had several kits for nothing other than a thanks, and even a cheap airbrush!
