Hi I thought I would share a micro diorama that I am currently building.
The theme of this diorama is simply called Trainspotter.
A small siding where a GWR ventilated wagon is standing. This is being watched by a school boy out trainspotting. The diorama has a little lamp hut.
Foliage and lineside items will be added as the build progresses. But for now a picture of my progress.

Nice start, railways have a lot going for them to practice weathering and detailing

Should be good. Nice idea and a promising start so far.
One potential improvement though, the tops of the rails should also be rusty at a siding end like this. There is no passing traffic to polish the railhead.

Hi Tim I was thinking the same, will weather the tops today.

Looking at it a bit more Kevin, I would also say the ballast is a little too well kept for a siding end. It looks like it’s been maintained to main line standards..something you could correct with your static grass I suspect ;)

Kevin, early days yet, but it's looking very good already.

Seeing your excellent idea for the layout made me smile - you'll see why in a few days....Wink, wink!

Thanks Rob for the nice comment, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
With this diorama I’m hoping to start some static grass work today.

This afternoon I have spent time adding flock and static grass to the layout. The grass will look a lot darker once the glue underneath dries. I’m pleased with the way the diorama is looking.

Wow Kevin,

This is a very nice little scene going on. Love the grass too!!! May I ask what the red box on the post is? Mailbox? Hotline to the Prez?

Hi Allen thank you for your nice comments. Yes it’s an old style mailbox which will need a touch of weathering so it looks like it’s open to the elements.:smiling4:

I still need to add a school boy trainspotter, one or two loco irons which have been chucked aside.
And of course a ventilated wagon.

A quick picture of my 4mm scale white metal loco irons and bucket. They need a little clean up before painting and adding to the diorama.
