Hi my latest build...armoured train by armagedon! if anyone is thinking of buying one it is a terrible kit nothing fits ...all the sides on train and cars are angled to make a nice sharp join but they dont ,you have to file and sand every side to get it to fit then some of the sides are warped. there are lots of lumps and bumps on most surfaces ,a lot of the small parts are not cast fully.
the last photo are the rails and sleepers all seperate!. it has took me two weeks working on it everyday (retired) to get it to what you see now. ... having said all that i have seen a full build on another site and it looks great when finished and its very impresive at three feet long .

roll on christmas so i can give this a rest and start a good kit the 1/72 hobbyboss Dora .( pressi).

That is a shame regarding build quality and parts not cast correctly would be a few pictures taken and a email/letter winging its way to the maker. But, negative apart, you seem to have taken this in hand and have made a great start, your skills are better than the rubbish fit and it shows, should be a blinder when finished Bazer.

Looks interesting.

Although this is armoured, it is still a train and thus I have moved it to the trains section...

I will look forward to seeing this develop.

It's always a pain when you get a kit like this sometimes it's more filler than plastic but you've made a good start and it looks like an interesting build

Hi guys
got a bit further with the train build as you can see from new photos have filled and sanded all joints added rivets that were sanded off and added wire handrails, also made radio ariel from wire (that took a few hours) almost ready for painting ,not looking foreward to this ( new to me).

I have decided to make it nto a small dio with a armoured car a few trucks and figures.as the cabinet i have for it is only 4 inches wide i will not get much on but i think it will look ok!.see photo of mock up.

It's a pity about the kit quality 'cos this looks like it will be an impressive build! You're doing a grand job so far.

Thanks for comments guys.

it is coming along well now i thought i may have a problem finding a replacement flak gun as the one in the kit is no good but found a nice one on um antiaircraft car s.sp. kit (i can build car itself with scratch built turret ).

Hope it turns out as good as your armoured train scott.

Look at the hornby OO gauge stuff and get one of those water towers with pumps, iam assuming it is 1/72 scale? if it is this like coal, ballast and lots more can be bought from hornby. I like the idea of a refulling stop you could add some soilders on patrol also.

Thanks for input scott

I could not find a water tower /pump of correct period so i have a ex-russian fire engine pumping water from a stream into the tender ,that should be a bit different!.if i can fit it onto the 4 inch wide base , and will add some troops.

Hi guys

now Dora is finished have got back to the armoured train have finished camo and also washes ( cant see them very well in photo dont know why).see new photos, have just got to finish all doors and bits and bobs then can start working out the dio.

I bought some gell from artist shop to make the water being poured into tender but it seems to thin and i cant get it to stick to anything it just wants to level out any ideas.

thanks

Looking really good now. Don't know if it helps, but Ron uses clear silicon bathroom sealant for his water effects - you might be able to form that into a thin stream.
