Here are the details of the photograph in the album marked 'Viper'-

This historic model depicts C.Rupert Moores Viper,on the left is Ron Moulton former editor of the Aeromodeller magazine, and on the right is Mike Beach who restored this famous model design.

The late C.Rupert Moore was a brilliant aeromodeller who designed and patented the Moore Diaphram, basically this enabled multi-strands of rubber to be wound together, quite an innovation for its day.

Mr Moore was the artist for Aeromodeller and produced a series of paintings which appeared on the covers, some of his methods of construction were very unusual to the point that many who built his models could not get the ideas to work properly ! this was really due to a lack of understanding of his designs rather than any shortcomings in same.

The Hawker Typhoon he designed had a system whereby the undercarriage was lowered when the motor ran down,it looked most realistic in flight.

Most of his designs were heavily loaded but flew well despite this.
